Editor in Chief
Portable Office/Portable Computing
IDG Communications Peterborough

Managed total redesign of magazine to bring its coverage and content up to professional standards. Portable Computing had recently progressed from bi-monthly to monthly frequency upon assumption of Editor in Chief's duties. Problem was to convert publication aimed almost solely at controlled circulation to a monthly suitable also for newsstand sales using existing staff. Secondary problem was to bring a magazine that was running nearly a month behind its production schedule up to date. Managed to get editorial staff on schedule within three months. Supervised redesign of magazine to enhance coverage, differentiate sections, and add aesthetic appeal. Sharpened editorial focus.
When publishers decided to change title to Portable Office, supervised design transition and developed appropriate new editorial content and focus while continuing to produce Portable Computing on schedule.
Also began a demanding travel schedule to conferences and other forums to gather information, materials, and contacts for magazine's newly expanded coverage. Maintained contact with industry leaders in Editor in Chief's ambassadorial role. Regularly represented magazine on three different television programs, taped regular radio spots to promote the magazine.
